Everything You Need To Know About the Back 4 Blood: Tunnels of Terror Expansion

DLC that adds new Cleaners, Ridden, weapons, and a whole new game mode

Developed by Turtle Rock Studios and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, the co-operative shooter that is Back 4 Blood will roll out its first major expansion on April 12. Available as part of the Annual Pass or a single purchase, Back 4 Blood: Tunnels of Terror will offer a sizable amount of new content for Cleaners to blast through.

More Cleaners for the Crew
Two new characters will join the fight against the Ridden, bringing the total to 10 distinct Cleaners to choose from.

Former chef Heng wields a dependable hatchet for melee attacks and is able to sense nearby attachments, stash doors, and hive entrances and pinpoint their locations to teammates. When hit by any mutation, there is also a chance for an item to fall out of Heng’s pockets to aid his teammates. And as part of a team, Heng brings a +5% chance of reusing any accessories.

As for former firefighter Sharice, her fire ax will come in handy for the Ridden hordes, as will her +25% trauma resistance. Having her around also sees a +25% for the team’s bolstered health, plus any armor pieces shot off the enemies can become armor plates for the team’s use.

New Ridden in Back 4 Blood: Tunnels of Terror

As seen in the trailer, the mysterious rifts that appear in the DLC will pave the way for the new Warped Ridden which will pose a different challenge for players.

The Ripper is a hulking beast that will hit extremely hard, the Shredder will come up close and personal with its sharp claws, and the Urchin is a menace that drops land mines around the battlefield to catch players off guard.

Needless to say, only by combining the various abilities and perks of the Cleaners can a team hope to survive these new monstrosities.

Ridden Hives PvE Game Mode

The main meat of the Back 4 Blood: Tunnels of Terror DLC comes in the form of the Ridden Hives, a new game mode that pits players against the Ridden in a winding system of tunnels. Making your way out of the labyrinth is hard enough, but to do so with the terrifying Ridden on your backs is a whole other matter.

To help level the playing field a little bit, the DLC will also see the addition of seven new legendary weapons, including the Prototype 378, which fires lighting rounds that slow enemies, and the Damnation rifle, whose incendiary rounds can ignite the Ridden. There will also be more Cards incoming to spice things up further, along with more skins for the Cleaners and the weapons.

Back 4 Blood is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S, and the Tunnels of Terror expansion releases on April 12.
