Tencent Agrees to Invest in Spain’s Novarama Game Studio

The studio is currently working on an unannounced MMO

Tencent has agreed to invest in Novarama, the Spanish game development studio said Thursday.

Novarama’s previous titles include KillSquad and Invizimals. The Barcelona-headquartered studio is also developing a new, unannounced, multi-platform MMO.

“Sir Isaac Newton said: ‘To see further, you must stand on the shoulders of giants.’ Partnering with Tencent…opens a vast world of possibilities for us. Today is a great day, not just for us, but also for the Spanish development community as a whole. Thanks to everyone involved on this journey, I can’t wait to share what we are working on,” said Novarama CEO Dani Sanchez-Crespo.

The deal follows Tencent’s recent investments in other studios, including Tequila Works and Riffraff Games, further supporting the growing global games sector.

About Novarama

Novarama was founded in 2003 to create innovative games with mass-market appeal. Having been a Sony exclusive studio for the past decade, it has now turned its sights toward the future of gaming and focusing on session-based MMOs.
