The Texas Chain Saw Massacre Debuts Grisly New Trailer Ahead of August Launch

The developers at Sumo Digital Nottingham and Gun Interactive have been hard at work, bringing their vision of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre to life, and to placate an eager community hungry for more updates, a brand new trailer for the asymmetrical horror game has arrived.

Needless to say, the trailer paints a bloody picture of what players can expect on both sides of the experience. Teams of four Victims will have to accomplish their objectives while constantly looking over their shoulders, whereas a team of three killers from the Slaughter Family can tap into their murderous bags of tricks to end the night with death.

With music being a key part of the gameplay process in The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, the team has also released the game’s official soundtrack, along with a companion album, Remains, put together by Gun Interactive CEO Wes Keltner and composer Jim Bonney. Available on Spotify and Apple Music, fans can get a taste of the haunting tunes that will soon accompany them in each and every match.

“This album is a direct reflection of what Kim Henkel wrote, influenced by the events that led up to [those of the film] and why the Slaughter family did the things they did, and it’s about that town that they grew up in and around,” said Keltner about the desert rock-inspired Remains. “So it was latching on to that story as that’s actually the kickoff, the spark that led to this was that town falling.”

“Wes called and asked if I would be interested in writing music about what happened before the original Texas Chain Saw Massacre movie. The story of a town before their only source of income dried up. The story of a family, before they were left behind by friends or co-workers, with no job prospects, alone on their family homestead to fend for themselves the best they knew how. My mom is from a tiny town in the rust belt of central Ohio, that suffered a similar fate, and while my relatives fared a whole lot better than the Family in this story, how could I turn down an opportunity like that?” added Bonney.

The multi-platform nature of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre means that crossplay is an essential feature, and players will have to take note of the following to ensure they can partner up when the horror begins. In essence:

  • PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S (ninth generation) can matchmake with each other.
  • Xbox One will only be able to matchmake with other Xbox One players (eighth generation Xbox).
  • PlayStation 4 players will only be able to matchmake with other PlayStation 4 players (eighth generation PlayStation).

Set to release on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and PC, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre will be available on launch day for $39.99 USD, in addition to being available on Xbox Game Pass.
