Warhammer 40,000: Darktide & The Commitment to Excellence

The hands-on experience at Gamescom 2022 demonstrates the magic of Fatshark is alive and well

When it comes to gaming, there is just no replacing the awesome feeling of achieving something impossible with the help of friends and family in a co-op session, and for that particular genre, no one quite does it as well as the folks over at Fatshark. The team behind the excellent Warhammer: Vermintide series has shifted its sights to the world of Warhammer 40,000, and with Darktide, things are definitely getting turned up a notch.

Made playable for visitors at Gamescom 2022 over at the Level Infinite booth, many new Rejects have joined the cause to save the city of Tertium from the hordes, delivering an even more visceral form of melee and ranged combat with each new challenge.

Veterans of Vermintide and its sequel should feel right at home, even in the grimdark future that now sits before them. Working together with companions remain the best way to survive, as well as elevating the levels of entertainment while foe after foe comes falling by the edge of the blades. Those looking for plenty of gore to go alongside impactful combat need look no further, all while players figure out the best synergy from the four available classes and the gear afforded to them.

Every encounter presents new objectives and difficulties to overcome, but don’t forget to admire the effort made by Fatshark to ensure that the essence of this world is captured in the environment to the enemies, all working towards making Warhammer 40,000: Darktide an increasingly enticing time.

Combine the exciting gameplay loop with a presentation that truly immerses players in the predicament they find themselves in as Rejects, and there is every chance that Warhammer 40,000: Darktide will be the top dog when it comes to co-op experiences this coming November 30.
